Snow Macaque

The Snow Macaque also known as the Japanese Macaque and the "Snow Monkey" is an Old World Monkey species native to Japan.

They get their name "snow monkey" because they live in areas where snow covers the ground for months each year – no other nonhuman primate is more northern-living, nor lives in a colder climate. They are able to survive in temperatures below 5 degrees fahrenheit. Their fur is brown-grey and they have red faces, and short tails. They are Omnivore and eat seeds, roots, fruits, invertebrates, eggs, bark, grains etc. The life expectancy of the Snow Macaque is approximately 30 years.
